Mic work w/SoundRecorder not w/TestingSoundHardwar

Hi,
I have a Windows 2003 EE SP2 in VMware environment and I install SoundOverRDP server into it. I connect to it from a Windows XP SP2 laptop using Remote Desktop Connection 5.1. (Below symptom is the same when I connect from a physical W2K3 SP2 with Remote Desktop Connection 6.0)

I open Sound Recorder in W2K3 virtual machine; I am able to record sound from a mic I hook up in my laptop and I can play it back to my speaker in my laptop. With this, the settings is likely correct.

The problem is I could not use mic with other software in W2K3 VM. I could not test mic with Avaya softphone which I install into this virtual machine, and then I notice mic could not be tested with Windows Sounds and Audio Devices. I explain problem with Windows Sound and Audio below. Could you please review and let me know if I miss something here?

In W2K3 VM, Open "Sound and Audio Devices" from control panel. I notice in Audio tab, sound recording is assigned to "Fabulatech RDP Audio in" but Volume and Advanced button is fade out. I notice in Voice tab, Voice Recording is assigned to "Fabulatech RDP Audio in" but Volume and Advanced button is fade out, I can click on Test Hardware button from Voice tab, when it come to "Microphone Test", the bar for voice recording never changed when I am talking.

Could you please help?
Thank you,
