Greetings,

I am under the trial period of the SPM and am attempting to see if it will work for me.

I can't seem to get an older program to connect to a Fluke DMM over a Bluetooth connection. However, I am able to get the same setup to communicate via the Windows Hyperterminal.

Particulars as follows: Fluke 867b GMM, Flukeview 860 software (1995, only COM1 and 2 allowed), Windows XP Pro.

SPM did the trick in Hyperterminal when I renamed the Bluetooth SPP to COM 2 AND COM 3 - the two seem to need to be "next" to each other.

GMM will connect via USB adaptor on COM 2. Only the Bluetooth connection does not function.

Any suggestions?

Hi,

So, it works fine if you use HyperTerminal and it does not work if you use Flukeview.

Could you please do the following:

Please download portmon utility (freeware):
http://download.sysinternals.com/Files/PortMon.zip

Please use the following portmon setting:
Edit -> Max Output Bytes -> 1024
Options -> Show Time [x]
Options -> Show Hex [x]
Options -> Clock Time [ ]

1) Launch portmon
2) Configure portmon to capture data from all COM ports: Capture -> Ports -> COM1, COM2, ....
3) Launch Hypertertminal and work with your device for some time. Then close HyperTerminal.
4) Launch Flukeview and try to access the device.
5) File -> Save As...

Please send us log files.

Okay,

I have fussed with this connection and ALMOST had success!

First, I connected to the Hyperterminal and was assured everything was working, then I substituted Bluetooth and it and the Fluke connected - however with only limited functionality.

I will send the log file, but be aware that I messed around a lot and am not able to assure I can attest to the specifics to all contained therein.

When the Fluke did "connect", I recall having done so on COM 1 utilizing SPM, from my SPP on COM 3.

Sometimes portmon will not allow a connection to a COM port - says it is busy or something - even though it is not.
